About Pricing and Buying courses

Q. I want to make an order (for tests, primers or learning materials) - who do I need to place it with?

A. You can place your order with Course-Source Ltd by contacting us or if your are buying smaller quantities, courses from the following vendors are available via e-commerce by adding to your basket from the catalogue:

Q. Can I still buy with purchase orders?

A. Yes. If you are buying more than 10 courses then contact us to discuss your needs and discuss payment terms.

Q. What purchase options do I have?

A. If you are buying less than 10 courses then using our secure e-commerce provider you can pay by Mastercard, Maestro, JCB & Solo. This will give immediate access to e-learning for you or your colleagues.

If you expect your organisation to use more than 10 courses then substantial discounts could be available for pre-purchasing courses. Contact us to discuss you needs and we will help you choose the best package for your organisation.

Q. I'm not in charge of purchasing but want to do a course. How do I go about this?

A. You can purchase courses for yourself or your team using a credit or debit card. Add courses to your basket and then proceed to checkout to purchase courses using our secure e-commerce gateway.

Alternatively, you can contact us to find out about discounts available for purchasing larger number of licenses.

Q. What is the difference between a buying a licence over an individual course?

A. The cost per unit of buying courses individually is higher than pre-purchasing a number of licenses.

If your organisation buys a license for a particular vendor, you pre-purchase either:
     a) a number of courses units for a particular vendor (enrolling on one course uses one unit)
     b) a number of user licenses (a user enrolling on the his/her first course uses a license)

When setting up licenses you can choose if you need to approve a request for the course (a user will get the option to request the course in the catalogue) or make it instantly available when selected from the catalogue.

An individual course is immediately added to your learning plan when purchasing via e-commerce.

Contact us for more information on the benefits of purchasing licenses.

Q. What is the difference between buying for myself and buying for others ?

A. On Step 2 of purchasing a course you will be asked if you will be taking all of the courses yourself.

Selecting Yes will mean that after processing your payment successfully, all the courses will be adding to My Courses immediately. You will be able to access the courses straight away and start learning. (NB This option is not available if you are purchasing more than 2 or more of the same course)

Selecting No will mean that after processing your payment successfully, you will be given a number of enrolment keys. You can distribute the enrolment keys to your colleagues and they can then activate the key in their My Courses page to unlock one of more courses.

Q. What is an enrolment key?

A. An enrolment key is a 16 character alphanumeric string generated when buying courses for others. When an enrolment key is entered in the box at the top of My Courses it will add the course or courses to your training plan.

Q. Why would I use enrolment key?

A. Enrolment keys are generated when purchasing for others. The following scenario describes how you might use an enrolment key to purchase a 'Managing Stress' course for 5 colleagues:

Q. Is the eCommerce secure?

A. Yes. We use a subsidiary of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Worldpay, to provide our payment solution. They are committed to providing a secure payment facility while keeping your personal data secure.

Q. Who are WorldPay?

A. Worldpay provides a secure internet payment solution. They are part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, the 5th biggest banking group in the world, and as such are trusted by millions of people and businesses around the world.

Q. Do I get a discount for buying multiple courses?

A. Yes. The greater number of courses bought at one time, the bigger the discount your organisation can benefit from. To maximise the discount, think about purchasing centrally to cover a number of departments. We are keen to help you maximise the value gained from HealthELearning.net so contact us to discuss your needs and we will help you choose the best package for your organisation.

About ECDL

Q. What is ECDL?

A. The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. ECDL is designed specifically for those who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in computing to enable them to develop their IT skills, increase speed and effectiveness and remove the stress of not being able to use a computer properly.

Q. Is ECDL is a qualification?

A. Yes. ECDL is made up of 7 modules which together can be used to work towards the formal ECDL qualification. The required assessments for the qualification however, must be purchased separately from an approved ECDL test centre.

Q. How do I take ECDL tests if my organisation is not offering ECDL?

We cannot provide ECDL primer or real tests to individuals as these need to be administered by an ECDL approved test centre. If your organisation is an ECDL approved centre they can contact us about enabling primer tests and real tests for them.

If your organisation is not an ECDL approved centre then we suggest you find your nearest approved centre. If you can find an NHS organisation that would be preferable otherwise you can find a local college or centre which will offer ECDL testing facilities.

You can use a link from the BCS site to locate your nearest centre. http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=nav.7062

ECDL Data Migration

Q. Will you be responsible for migrating across our existing ECDL user data into HeLP?

A. Yes, we will do this automatically in two phases, once the existing portal (run by NHS Connecting for Health) is switched off. We do however need your permission to transfer the data as it is owned by each Trust.

Q. Can I register using an existing ECDL user ID?

A. After March 20th 2008 , all the ID's and passwords (even inactive users) will work automatically. At healthELearning.net you can register using your existing ECDL ID and password. Click on "register" and enter your ECDL details - you will then be taken directly to your respective sub-site area (Learning Centre) within the new platform.

Q. As an Administrator, will I carry across my admin rights when first registering?

A. On the beta platform, you will need to email sperkins@course-source.net with your request. He will then give you the necessary permissions so you can login to the administrator site. Once the system goes live and the old data is copied over everyone will have the same rights (and the same groups) that existed before.

Q. Will we have access to ECDL learning material in this portal?

A. Yes, you will have access to the latest syllabus of all ECDL modules. In the beta platform it has been set up in a similar way to the existing portal, i.e. users go the catalogue, find the module they want and enrol themselves in it. This procedure will change slightly when going live as there will be users that already have licenses that have been paid for by CFH, and users that have new licenses paid by the Trusts.
